Setting Up Your City Page

The city page is a window into your chapter. This is where people land when they want to learn more about what your chapter is all about and to sign up for your events. To best tell the world about your chapter, fill out each relevant section on your chapter’s Administration page. (From creativemornings.com, click your profile photo > Administration.)

The Anatomy of the City Page

The city page is made up of a few key sections that communicate your chapter’s vision, events, and local community.

These are the elements:

  • Host: The host name and photo link the host’s CreativeMornings profile page. (Hint: Be sure your profile page has a photo and up-to-date information on it.)
  • Latest: This is the landing page for your chapter.
  • Talks: When you upload a talk, they appear here.
  • About: Tell the story of your chapter, including the vision and how to get involved.
  • Community: When people sign up to be part of your chapter’s community or register for events, their profiles appear here.
  • Partners: Use this page to highlight your local partners, and explain how prospective partners can get involved.
  • Social media: Enter your chapter’s social media handles into the Social tab of the Administration page. Then the icons will automatically appear in the “Stay in touch” section with the correct links.

This is an example of CreativeMornings/Amsterdam’s city page in action.

How to Update the City Page

The city page pulls from your chapter’s Tumblr feed. When you post on Tumblr, the same post will automatically show up on your city page. To do this, you will need to create your own Tumblr username and password by following the link in the invitation we sent to your chapter address. Once you accept the invitation, you can create a username and password and contribute to your city's Tumblr.

Some chapters use their city page to share announcements, highlight partners, and recognize their organizing team and community. For example, CreativeMornings/Chicago posts interviews with their speakers and CreativeMornings/San Francisco runs a series called Community Spotlightto showcase their attendees.

Your First Post on the City Page

Now that you are an official chapter host, it’s time to introduce yourself and your team on the city page. This first post helps to fill the city page and signal to the world that your chapter is now active.

Here’s how to do it:

1

Craft your message. Put together the words and imagery for your post. The goal is to introduce who you are as a host and your vision for the chapter. You can copy and paste this template and personalize it, as you see fit.

For inspiration, here are examples from other chapters:

2

Publish on Tumblr. Log into your chapter’s Tumblr account. (CMHQ has sent an invite to your chapter’s email account. If you need another invite, let us know.) Format your post, then hit publish. It should now also appear on the city page. (Sometimes there can be a lag of a few minutes.)
